Our Trip to Europe

Day 6 – Cobh, Ireland

Today we arrived in Cobh, pronounced Cōve. We had an early shore excursion, so we were up and ready to go by 7am. We headed out by bus to Killarney but we had a stop about 1 ½ hours into the trip at a local B&B for coffee and “biscuits”. It was a really cute little place by the road in a very small town. It was a nice break in our 2hr bus ride. We arrived in Killarney and headed for Mucross House. This is a very old mansion that has a lot of it’s original furnishings. We had a tour of the house which had views of the Lakes of Killarney. It was very interesting learning how the upper crust lived back in the day. We left Muckross House and headed to the town of Killarney for lunch in a local pub. We were served Irish Stew which is made with lamb and a Guiness. The stew was really good but I found that I am not a fan of Guiness. After lunch we had some time to explore the town of Killarney. It was a beautiful little place. I think one of the main things that make these European towns so charming are all the flower foxes in the windows and above business signs, etc. Once we were all back on the bus, we headed to an overlook of the Lakes of Killarney to take pictures. When we got there, there was a camera crew shooting a German romance movie so they limited where we could walk as they didn’t want us to crush the tall grass there. We were able to still get good views and pictures.

Back to the ship, very tired. Our weather today was overcast, as usual, but we avoided the rain until our return trip to the ship. Another wonderful day in Europe!!
